The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  –2 Peter 3:9

God sees waiting so much differently than we do.  He’s waiting to perform the resurrection for those buried in the graves in the picture to the left, for example.  

Sometimes he waits to help us learn a lesson.

Sometimes he waits to change our perspective.

Here, Peter says that the Lord is waiting to fulfill the promise to bring an end to the world as we know it because he’s waiting for people to repent.

You and I, we’re waiting on Christmas to remind us, among other things, that the day will surely come when Jesus will appear again, just as sure as Christmas will come.
