How do we start the process of finding spiritual growth or breakthrough in your life?  It’s through breaking up the hard ground of our hearts.

This message focuses on that dynamic exactly. I’m enjoying this four-part series called “Seasons” already!  You’ll find the outline and the message itself below!

Life Cycles—Plowing
1 Corinthians 3:6  I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.
Hosea 10:12b  Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’
Jeremiah 4:3  This is what the Lord says to the people of Judah and to Jerusalem: “Break up your unplowed ground and do not sow among thorns.
Big Idea:  Just like unplowed soil becomes hard, our hearts become hard and indifferentwithout regular attention.
What makes my heart hard?
1.    Deliberatelychoosing what I know is wrong.
2.    Setting up idols in my life.
3.    Neglect of life-giving patterns.
How can I break up fallow ground?
1.    Repentance.
2.    Prayer and worship.
3.    Receiving God’s Word.
4.    Making regular, repeated sacrifices from my life.

Bottom Line—A heart and circumstances will remain hard without direct action. What steps will you take today to break up the hard ground?
