Help for Minot, North Dakota & Joplin, Missouri

You may know that Minot, North Dakota has experienced devastating flooding this month.  Things have hit a new low there this past weekend as waters reached a record high.  As you may be able to imagine, all kinds of people have been touched by this disaster.

Walt and Jenny Donoghue attend First Assembly, but recently lived in Minot.  These are the words she writes, “Many of my friends, most of whom I would consider family, are still there and some have already lost their homes. The church Walt and I attending is almost completely under water. I just feel like there is something I can/should do to help! Is there any way we can petition our church to donate to help the people in Minot?  I can contact the pastor (Travis Hovde from Eagle’s Wings Community Fellowship) to find out what  items are most needed. I feel so helpless being here watching those that I love and care about go through such a tragedy! I am attaching a picture of my old church (flood 1)…it is the building with a white roof in the lower right corner of the picture.”

Convoy of Hope is our partner in disaster relief around the world.  They have sent trucks with meals, cleaning supplies, personal items, etc to Minot and Joplin.  They are suggesting the best thing anyone can do is donate by check.

If you choose to give, you can write a check to First Assembly, in the memo put “Minot” or “Joplin” and we will make sure the money gets to Convoy of Hope.  Or, if you prefer (to get the money there faster), you can write a check directly to Convoy of Hope (with “Minot” in the memo) and send to 330 Patterson Ave., Springfield, MO  65802.
