Day 14–Broken by prayer and fasting

18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”  –Matthew 17:18-21 (NKJV)

We do not fast to change the mind or will of God; we fast to drive out our unbelief and bring ourselves into agreement with the possibility in God.  When we have faith to believe and keep on believing, we come into the force of the words “nothing will be impossible.”

As you continue now in the last third of our corporate fast, ask God to build up your ability to believe God and the Word he has spoken in the scriptures and in his Spirit.

May your prayers express more and more, as we approach the end of our fast together an uncontainable expectation in the power, ability and faithfulness of God.
