JESUS—THE GREATEST HERO
(Romans 8:11 NLT) The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to you.
BIG IDEA: The resurrection gives power to everyone who believes.
- He identifies with our pain.
(Isaiah 53:4-5) Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
(Psalm 147:3-5) He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds…
–>No pain is beyond his ability to understand or lift you from.
- He identifies with our confusion.
(1 Peter 5:10) And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
–>There is no fear or confusion that his presence cannot overcome.
- He answers our losses with resurrection.
(John 11:25-26) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
(Philippians 3:10-11) I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, 11 so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!
–>No death is beyond the power of resurrection.
