Growing Small

This message focuses on why we make small groups a centerpiece of what we do as a church.  I think you’ll get something from it!  Check out the outline and video!

GROWING SMALL

BIG IDEA: We create small group environments where people can experience community, receive from God and take next steps.

4 Reasons We do small groups.

  1. Because it is the Biblical model.

(Acts 20:20) “You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house.”

  1. Because people need to be known.

The church must become larger and smaller at the same time.

(Ecclesiastes 4:8-12) “There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil… Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

  1. People need healing.

(James 5:16) “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”

4 WAYS WE BEAR WOUNDS

  • Arena – I know and you know
  • Mask – I know but you don’t know
  • Blind spot – You know but I don’t know
  • Hidden – I don’t know and you don’t know
  1. People need to grow.

(Proverbs 27:17) “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

Life change happens in relationships.

BOTTOM LINE:  Step into a group today.
