Well, I really enjoyed the EPIC series we just completed yesterday.  After 7 weeks of some of the most epic tales in the Old Testament, we’ll be shifting to the words of Jesus for two weeks in The Lord’s Prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer is important for a number of reasons.  Beyond the fact that it is the oldest prayer of the Christian faith, comes from the lips of Jesus, and is said by Christians every week in every kind of church all over the globe, The Lord’s Prayer gives us clarity of vision in knowing what is important to God and what should be important to us.

People at all phases of their spiritual journey will benefit from this walk-through of a prayer that is kind a spiritual cathedral of ideas.  I can walk through its beautiful words again and again and see new shades of beauty and have new insights into God’s glory.

On August 19, we will deal with the “front-end” of Jesus’ prayer–God’s Name, God’s Kingdom and God’s Will.

On August 26, we will explore the end of Jesus’ prayer where he deals with such important issues in our lives as Daily Bread, Forgiveness and Evil.

Here are the words to The Lord’s Prayer, in case you’ve not yet put it to memory:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
On earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom,
The Power,  and the Glory
Forever and ever.  AMEN
