First Church of the Fireworks

This weekend at First Assembly of God in Lafayette, Indiana, we’ll have more people on our grounds and looking at our building and saying the name of our church than at any time during the year.  That’s thanks to a tradition appreciated by our community by putting on a quality fireworks display, along with offering good food, fun for kids, and some music.  Between 4000-5000 people expected.

This year, thanks to the excellent efforts of an organizing committee led by Jamey Young, some 150 volunteers have signed up to help set up, connect with the crowd and clean up.  This level of organization will allow us to connect better than ever with our community and intentionally welcome them and make them aware of the ministries of First Assembly.

We still need some help!  We’re shy of about 50 volunteers, I’m writing this today to ask you to get involved.  If you’d like to sign up, please write us at this email address.  If you won’t be here on Sunday, there is also set up happening on Saturday morning, starting at 8AM.  We could also use help now continuing to canvass the surrounding neighborhoods with the 8000 flyers and hundreds of posters we’ve had made for the event.

Finally, I’m asking you to pray that this event will be a time when we connect with people and God draws them to our church.  We’ve so much more to offer than fireworks!
