Visioneering

This past weekend, I spent about 12 hours with the staff, deacons and a few others from our church talking about the Values, Mission, Vision, and Goals of First Assembly. This was one of the most exciting things I’ve had a chance to lead since I’ve been here.

Next month, we’ll be meeting with all the leadership of the church to present these documents, as well as to ask our church’s ministry and department leaders work on their action steps to make the goals we set happen.

To give you a sneak peak, here’s our mission as a church:

“To create a community where waves of people are transformed by the love of God.”

Our scriptural basis for this is Matthew 10:7-8: As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

A mission is the central, essential purpose of an organization that summarizes why it exists and what it does. I think it will help to have a purpose or mission that guides us as a community as we move ahead. More to come on our process of seeing the vision God has for us unfold!
