A Little More about Life Groups

You might have heard that this Saturday evening, March 5 from 6:30 to 9:30, a Life Group Leadership Seminar is being offered at First Assembly and that this seminar is mandatory for all adult Sunday school teachers, class leaders, home fellowship group leaders and teachers, and small group leaders. This seminar is also being offered on Sunday, March 13 from 4:30 to 7:30. If you are interested in leading a group or starting one with some friends, sign up today!

What you might not have realized is that during this next year, our small groups, adult Sunday school classes, classes, and home fellowship groups will undergo a transformation into “Life Groups”. These groups may offer the same kind of ministry, but there will (hopefully) be more and more people who want to start new kinds of initiatives.
These groups will be taking a break (yes, including most all Home Fellowship Groups, adult classes, interest groups, study groups, etc.) during the months of April, August and December to allow special moments of corporate gathering for our church. That’s a shift in paradigm for us, I know, but I think we’ll be glad for it when it happens. It will allow leaders a chance to rest, time for our church to experience different times of being together in a big group and time for new leaders to consider how they might found new groups and ministries in our church. I’m excited about it!
We’re hoping to see between 50 and 100 leaders go through the seminar. There’s still time to sign up. You can also ask for more information at the information center on Sunday mornings! Many thanks to Rob & Jennifer Stanfield, along with Pastor Todd Hair, are working together to push Life Groups ahead at First Assembly! If you plan to lead a group in the future, sign up today at lifegroups@firstag.org!
